Travis Air Force Base Integrated Cultural Resource Management Plan

Summary

This Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan (ICRMP) has been developed for Travis Air Force Base (AFB), Fairfield, California as directed by Air Force Instruction (AFI) 32-7065 (revised June 1, 2004), to provide for effective management of cultural resources on the installation. This is a 5-year plan, for fiscal years 2010 through 2015. The plan is divided into six sections that provide the information and process for protecting the historic resources on Travis AFB. This plan is intended to provide background information and guidance for personnel involved in the planning and management of cultural resources as well as the planning and management of activities/programs/projects that may have an effect on the cultural resources of Travis AFB.

The ICRMP is organized as follows:

Section 1 (this section) provides a brief overview of the ICRMP. Section 2 provides an introduction to Travis AFB and general information regarding the physical setting and an historical perspective; introduces the goals of the Base and the cultural resources program; and assigns program responsibilities. Section 3 describes the historical background, past efforts to identify cultural resources, known cultural resources, and any areas where additional studies may be required. Section 4 details compliance with historic preservation laws and regulations, and Section 5 outlines standard operating procedures (SOPs) for carrying out routine occurrences on or near cultural resources. A bibliography and references are included in Section 6. The Appendices A-E contain additional explanatory, reference, and supplementary detailed information. Appendix F contains archaeological site location information, and is for official use only.
