Finding Aid, Mississinewa Reservoir Survey 1980-1982

Summary

This collection is referred to as "Mississinewa Reservoir Survey 1980-1982.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is one and three quarters (1. 75) linear inches.

This collection includes a final report that was received on a CD in a digital format. It was printed on acid free paper and, thus, no mending and cleaning was necessary. Two Report Records series folders were created to house the final report. Part one of the report includes pages i to vi and 1 to 137, while the appendices on pages 139 to 295 are included in part 2. Two issues exist with the digital file of this report. First, page 99 is distorted. Also, although this report is dated 1982, its content covers the full extent of the survey from 1980 to 1981.

The collection is associated with the artifact investigation of the same project name, “Mississinewa Reservoir Survey 1980-1982.” Archaeological sites 12G16-12G28, 12G31, 12MI15-12MI18, 12MI20-12MI24, 12WB28-12WB43, 12WB60-12WB92, 12WB94-12WB96, 12WB98-12WB108, 12WB110-12WB122, 12WB124-12WB132 were recorded as the surveyed sites within the report. Artifacts were given the accession number 123F, but not all sites had material collected from them.

The Mississinewa Reservoir Survey 1980-1982 project is also associated with the Field School at Sites 12WB90 and 12WB120 1981-1984 artifact and archives collection. This is due to the fact that work done in 1981 at 12WB90 is covered in Appendix 9 of the final report for the Mississinewa Reservoir Survey, entitled “Preliminary Report on a Controlled Surface Collection at 12-Wb-90” by Donald R. Cochran. This preliminary report served as background information for later work at the site. A draft of Appendix 9 is included within the records for Field School at Sites 12WB90 and 12WB120 1981-1984.
