Environmental Assessment for the Implementation of an Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan at Fort Sam Houston, Texas

Summary

The ICRMP has been prepared to serve as the primary management tool for cultural resources at Fort Sam Houston. The ICRMP will guide the installation’s management of any potential historic properties which are present on the facility. The ICRMP will include those properties identified as part of the Nation Historic Landmark District (NHLD) or the potential NHLD, any archaeological properties known or predicted, Cold War era properties, or other properties potentially eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The ICRMP reflects the latest guidance available, considers the current legal and regulatory mandates as applicable to federal and Army facilities, and is tailored to the installation’s mission requirements. The ICRMP is intended to be a five-year plan (2002-2006) and is not a decision document. The entire ICRMP should be revised appropriately at the end of a five-year cycle coinciding with the five-year revision of the installation master plan. The Proposed Action would not affect the overall mission of Fort Sam Houston, and would provide compliance with federal and Army regulations.
