Summary
The purpose of the Historic Landscape Management Plan (LMP) for Fort Sam Houston is to provide guidance for future landscape planning to enhance the historic character, to improve the public image and quality of life, and to conserve water.

An American Depot. Headquarters, and Training Facility (1876-19461). the research team determined the historic districts at Fort Sam to be significant as historic military landscapes. Additionally, the team identified six significant landscapes within the overall historic district that required special attention.
