Author(s): Maurice Major; Thomas Dye

Year: 2006

Summary

Prior to installation of the communication line, T. S. Dye & Colleagues, Archaeologists, Inc. carried out a subsurface inventory survey along the proposed communication line route within site 50–80–15–4853 and completed test excavations south of the site within MCTAB to search for buried cultural deposits. During installation of the communication line T. S. Dye & Colleagues, Archaeologists, Inc. carried out archaeological monitoring. The primary focus of the archaeological monitoring was on the discovery and appropriate treatment of historic properties discovered during the undertaking. Archaeological survey encountered human skeletal remains in a disturbed area south of Waimanalo Stream. The utility corridor was reconfigured to avoid the remains but instead exposed two more sets of human remains along a segment of the rerouted line.
