Section 110 Survey of 943 acres at West Point Lake, Chambers County, and 250 acres at Walter F. George Reservoir, Russell County, Alabama

Between 8 March 2010 and 9 July 2010, Brockington and Associates (Brockington) conducted intensive cultural resources survey of a total of 7,559 acres within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District. These survey tracts include 1,193 acres at two different reservoirs in east Alabama, 676 acres at two different reservoirs in north Georgia, 2,063 acres at one reservoir in west Georgia, and 3,627 acres at a wildlife mitigation area in northeast Mississippi. This technical report is divided into three volumes. The current volume summarizes the findings from background research and intensive cultural resources survey of two Mobile District Corps lakes in Alabama. During the present field survey, researches recorded a total of seven previously unidentified archaeological sites (1CH168-174), revisitied five (1CH5, 1CH127, 1RU141, 1RU473, 1RU474) previously recorded archaeological sites, and identified three prehistoric isolated finds (Isolates 1-2-Oakland Road, Isolated Find (Big Island) 1. This ARRA-funded task order employed 43 specialists for a period of 12 months.
