Author(s): Ronald K. Yablon

Summary

The Museum of Northern Arizona conducted archaeological investigations at site NA 15, 718. The site is located in the Tonto National Forest, northwest of Superior, Arizona. Investigations revealed a moderately dense sherd and lithic scatter. There are 11 cobble features, 6 of which are check dams, 4 are habitation units and the remaining feature has an unknown function. The remains represent a Salado occupation probably dating to the late prehistoric period (A.D. 1150 to 1450). The subsistence pattern is based on domestic agriculture, supplemented by abundant wild floral resources (jojoba, saguaro, and palo verde).

This is a preliminary report.
