Memo, Revised Section 106 Coordination on Project to Replace Tile Roofing on Historic Buildings, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas

Author(s): Scott B. Shepherd III

Year: 1997

Summary

The attached letter to the SHPO indicates our intent to replace all original roofing tiles on historic buildings because they are brittle and broken. In the original Section 106 letter to the SHPO in 1992 we indicated that we would use the original tiles if at all possible. In 1993, US Tile’s Bernardo Blend was selected as a replacement of the original and for future new construction roofing tiles. The sentence in the first Section 106 letter to the SHPO we sent to your office and was changed so as not to give the erroneous indication that we selected Bernardo Blend now - May 97. See paragraph 4 of the attached letter. The determination was No Adverse Effect rather than No Effect; therefore, additional coordination with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) is required.
