Finding Aid, Archaeological Survey of East Lynn Reservoir 1964-1965

Summary

This collection is referred to as "Archaeological Survey of East Lynn Reservoir 1964¬ 1965”. This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is a quarter (0.25) of a linear inch.

The documents date from 1964 to 1965. The investigation began in 1964, which explains the date range in the investigation name. The collection was originally stored in an acidic folder in an acid-free box. Contents within the folder included a copy of the archaeological contract and a copy of the final report. The documents were in good condition, though the final report contained metal contaminants and was originally housed in an acidic cover folder. Metal contaminants were removed from the final report and surface cleaning was performed. Some of the pages within the report were printed on onion skin paper and appear to have discoloration, likely due to contact with the acidic cover folder. The pages of the final report were removed from the cover folder and encapsulated in Mylar because the onion skin pages were not stable enough to be housed on their own.

An oversized site survey map was originally found in the final report. The oversized map was removed from the original report and scanned. A copy of the map was printed on acid-free paper and inserted into the original location within the final report. The oversized map was assigned to the same folder as the final report (2/1), removed to oversized storage, and assigned a scanned asset number for tracking purposes. The digital copy of the map was inserted into the investigation’s digital records.
