Historic Building Inventory: Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, Volume 1

Author(s): Mandy Whorton; John F. Hoffecker

Year: 1998

Summary

This report presents the inventory and evaluation of all buildings on Peterson AFB constructed between 1942 and 1989 (i.e., the World War II and Cold War eras). The Air Force has determined that one building (Building 880) from the World War II era is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places because of both its association with advancements in aerial photographic mapping and its unusual architecture. The Air Force has determined that the other World War II era structures are not individually significant and retain only marginal historic integrity because of significant modifications. The Air Force has further determined that none of the Cold War era structures on PAFB meet the criteria of "exceptional importance" for facilities less than 50 years of age (60 CFR 4g). This is volume one of a two volume set.
