EMAP LA3949 Unit 13 writeup 2017 (2017)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Uploaded by: Sarah Klassen

Unit 13 was a relatively small rectangular room (2.5 x 4.3 = 10.8 square meters) single story room in what was called the South Two-Story section of the Postclassic pueblo at Las Animas Village. Its size and the absence of a hearth suggest that Unit 13 served as a storage room. It was repeatedly remodeled, as indicated by three floor layers. No chronometric dates were obtained from this room.

It was built on top of a much earlier pithouse or pit feature. Unit 5 was part of a larger two-story construction, including Unit 8/15 to the north. When it was built, the first and second story rooms seem to have been very similar, both with hearths just east of center, both bisected by a row of roof support posts. After some use the...

In contrast, Unit 4’s second story collapsed and only a portion of it was found, mostly in the southeast corner of the room. The lower, first-story floor of Unit 4 had been substantially remodeled. Two large roof...
