Site 42WS953 is a mid-size Virgin Anasazi village occupied during P I and late P II, although not continuously. This site lies on a portion of a gravel bar above a strip of arable land along the Santa Clara River above its confluence with the Virgin River. The Hines Site (35HA2692) represents a Late Holocene temporary campsite located in Harney Basin in southeastern Oregon. A single radiocarbon age of 1220 ± 60 BP is reported for a small hearth at this site. Four pollen and 26 macrofloral samples were examined from column and/or cultural samples. Pollen analysis concentrated on identifying vegetation associated with a Late Pleistocene or Early Holocene lake, while macrofloral samples represent archaeological deposits at the site.
