A large, dense concentrations, often mounded, of fire cracked rock (FCR), usually associated with large scale plant processing. Although other cultural materials may be present in the midden, FCR is usually predominant.

Bivlaves recovered from flotation column (25 x 25 cm) of Test Unit A1 and a corresponding control block (25 x 25 cm) carefully excavated by hand. All specimens in the control block were removed to avoid damage by normal waterscreen or flotation techniques. Total number of bivalve shells is 4635.

Vertebrate faunal remains from Excavation Unit A1 (1 x 1 m), excavated in arbitrary 10 cm levels to 205 cm below surface datum. Level 1 is 0-25 cm (plowzone), Level 2 is 25-30 cm, and levels 3-19 are each 10 cm. Level 20 is 200-205 cm. All matrix waterscreened through 1/4" (6.4 mm) mesh and a 40% sample from each level waterscreened through 1/16" (1.6 mm) mesh, except Level 1, which was dryscreened 1/4" only.
