Pollen samples were collected from features at 5MT5376 and SHT9433 to examine the vegetal portion of the subsistence base. These Basketmaker III sites are located near Yellowjacket Canyon in the Sand Canyon Facility Site Survey Area. 5MT5376 contains surface structures and an extramural pit that were sampled for pollen. 5MT9433, on the other hand, is represented by samples from roasting pits and hearths.

Sites CA-SDI-14971, CA-SDI-16695, and CA-SDI-16696, located in San Diego County, California, are part of the Via de la Valle Project. Seven lithic artifacts were collected and submitted for protein analysis. Obsidian debitage was submitted for obsidian sourcing, and a burned granite bowl was submitted for pollen and starch analysis.

The mid-section of a chert biface artifact from the La Purisima Mission Granary Site in Lompoc, California, was analyzed for possible protein residues. This artifact was discovered near the stone foundation of the La Purisima Granary and is believed to represent a hafted knife that was used either in agriculture or in skinning hides. Previous studies have shown that protein residues from a tool's surface can be identified using modified forensic procedures.
