MB #33 on the west bank of the river in Moreau dates to the Late Woodland. This site was later partly mitigated.

The Mattei Site (38BU1765) is a Late Archaic site situated on an elevated marine sand deposit in an upland area of the Atlantic coastal strand near the May River in Beaufort County, South Carolina (Daniel Elliot, personal communication, November 12, 2019).
