North Carolina Office of State Archaeology

North Carolina's Office of State Archaeology (OSA) coordinates and implements a statewide program of prehistoric, historic, and underwater archaeology. The OSA serves as the professional archaeology staff for the State Historic Preservation Office and the North Carolina Historical Commission, with offices located in Raleigh, Asheville, Fort Fisher (near Kure Beach), Morehead City, and Greenville.
The OSA is a section of the Division of Historical Resources, Office of Archives & History, North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources.
