The authors attempt to understand pan-continental cultural relationships as well as explain how cosmologies developed through time in the eastern Woodlands and Great Plains of North America. The Gast Farm project was an interdisciplinary investigation of the archaeological and paleoecological deposits from two alluvial fans along the western edge of the Mississippi River valley in southeastern Iowa.
