The Oklahoma Archaeological Salvage Project is concerned with the salvaging of the prehistoric record of Oklahoma whenever it is threatened with destruction. However the main effort of the project during the period from 1956 to 1958 was the survey and salvage excavation of sites located within the construction right of ways of the state highway system.
