Archaeological investigations of the Yorktown Enclosure (12-Dl-39) were conducted to determine the origin and potential significance of the earthwork. The 1999 Ball State University archaeological field school was held at the Anderson Mounds complex located in Mounds State Park and the New Castle complex.
