POLLEN ANALYSIS AT FIVE SITES IN THE TOWOAC CANAL REACH II AREA, MONTEZUMA COUNTY, COLORADO (1990)

Five archaeological sites representing habitation or seasonal habitation in the area of Hovenweep Canyon were selected for pollen analysis. Occupation at these sites ranged from Basketmaker III to Pueblo III. Pollen samples were examined from structure floors, feature fill, groundstone, and a single "cloudblower" to identify economic activity at these sites.

Sediment from features representing both Pueblo I and Pueblo II occupations at Site 5MT7522 in southwest Colorado were examined for pollen and macrofloral remains. Pollen and macrofloral analyses will be used to provide information concerning plant resources available to and utilized by the Pueblo I and Pueblo II occupants of the site.


PROTEIN RESIDUE ANALYSIS OF THREE PROJECTILE POINTS FROM SITE LA 150615, RIO ARRIBA COUNTY, NEW MEXICO (2009)

Three projectile points and a single soil control sample were submitted for protein residue analysis from site LA 150615, located in Rio Arriba County, northern New Mexico. All three artifacts are from a pit house feature with a Pueblo I-II affiliation (ca. A.D. 700-1050). Protein residue analysis may help determine what animals were hunted, and/or what animal remains were processed using these tools.
