MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT 48CR4419, A LATE PREHISTORIC HOUSEPIT IN CARBON COUNTY, WYOMING (1989)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. PaleoResearch Institute.

Macrofloral samples were collected from features within a housepit, as well as isolated locations outside the housepit, to analyze for information relating to subsistence activities at the site. Charred seeds were visible. Three distinct clusters of housepits were noted in this area, and a single housepit was selected for excavation. Two occupations are indicated for the housepit; 1200 BP (Component 1) and a later reuse (Component 2) of the structure.

PALEOENVIRONMENTAL AND SUBSISTENCE INTERPRETATIONS FROM SITE 48CR4ll4, CARBON ,COUNTY, WYOMING (1985)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda J Scott. PaleoResearch Institute.

Site 48CR4ll4 is a shallow multi-component site located to the west of Baggs, Wyoming. The flora in this area is xerophytic and dominated by sagebrush. Two occupational components were identified at the site, based on radiocarbon dates, stratigraphy, and tool types. A radiocarbon age of 4010 ± 160 BP (Beta 11039) was returned for the first component, while ages of 1440 ± 90 BP (Beta 11038) and 1190 ± 60 (Beta 11040) were returned for the second component. Stratigraphic pollen samples were...

POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS FROM 48CR1929, 48CR3961, AND 48CR3962, CARBON COUNTY, WYOMING (1982)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda J. Scott. PaleoResearch Institute.

Pollen and macrofloral samples were collected from three sites twelve miles southeast of Wamsutter, Wyoming during the course of archaeological mitigation along the Mapco Pipeline. The sites represent Altithermal, Middle Archaic, and Late Archaic/Late Prehistoric occupations. These sites, 48CR39l, 48CR1929, and 48CR3962, are located within two miles of each other in the Red Desert/Great Divide Basin area of western Carbon County. The present environment at these sites is a mixed desert...

POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF HEARTH FILL AT SITE AEC-06-006-01, CARBON COUNTY, WYOMING (2006)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Kathryn Puseman. Linda Scott Cummings. R.A. Varney. Jaime Dexter.

A single fill sample from a hearth at site 06-006-01 in Carbon County, Wyoming, was examined for pollen and macrofloral remains. This hearth was discovered while monitoring a construction project. This feature yielded a radiocarbon age of 8580 ± 60 BP, indicating an Early Archaic occupation of the area. Pollen and macrofloral analysis will be used to provide a description of local vegetation and subsistence information concerning plant resources utilized at this site.

POLLEN, STARCH, AND ORGANIC RESIDUE (FTIR) ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES FROM SITE 48CR8818, CARBON COUNTY, WYOMING (2012)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Melissa K. Logan.

Site 48CR8818 represents an Early Archaic housepit with three subfloor thermal basins. Radiocarbon dates indicate this housepit was occupied between approximately 5600 and 5850 radiocarbon years BP. One modern and one stratigraphic sample were submitted for pollen analysis and an additional stratigraphic sample was examined for both pollen and starch. Pollen analysis was undertaken to describe the vegetation communities before and at the time of occupation, while starch analysis was added...
