Charred plant remains were recovered in waterscreened samples from test excavation units at Site 32SK854 in western North Dakota. These test units were located on terraces along the Heart River. The charred plant remains were sent for identification.

The Boots Site (32MZ732) is located in upland rolling hills dissected by deep woody draws leading to the Missouri River, which has been dammed to form Lake Sakakawea. A stratigraphic column with a base prior to BC 5700-5575, near the terminal end of the Paleo- Indian and transition to the Early Plains Archaic for this area, was examined to provide a record of vegetation. A single flotation sample was collected from a single fire-hearth feature uncovered during the archaeological monitoring of a road cut that impacted the Harsh Hawk Site (32BI317).
