Isolate record for VAFB-ISO-948 (2002)
This document is the isolated find record for VAFB-ISO-948. The artifacts are two secondary Monterey chert flakes. A fragment of marine shell was also noted but given that it is a nonnative species (Chione sp.) and its proximity to the Sudden Ranch, it is unlikely that the marine shell is prehistoric.
Isolate record for VAFB-ISO-949 (2004)
This document is the isolated find record for VAFB-ISO-949. The artifacts are two Monterey chert flakes. One flake was discovered during a pedestrian survey in January of 2004. Subsurface testing was initiated in the immediate area surrounding the isolate in February 2004 to determine if additional cultural material was present. Six shovel test pits (STPs) were excavated around the original flake, one of which yielded an additional flake. The second flake was discovered less than 10 feet from...
Isolate record for VAFB-ISO-950 (2004)
This document is the isolated find record for VAFB-ISO-950. The artifact is a projectile point midsection made from mottled brown and gray Monterey chert. The artifact was discovered just north of a model airplane field alongside a dirt track. One shovel test pit (STP) was excavated at the location where the artifact was found, and four more STPs were excavated around the artifact. None of the STPs yielded cultural materials.
Isolate record for VAFB-ISO-951 (2007)
This document is the isolated find record for VAFB-ISO-951. The artifact is a primary chert flake measuring 7 cm by 6 cm by 4 cm and has cortex near platform.
