A Pilot Study of Holocene Tephrochronology and Spring Paleoecology in the Kawich Range, Nevada Test and Training Range, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada (2007)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Jill Onken.

Seven springs in the northern Kawich Range were investigated to determine whether Holocene volcanic ash layers exist in alluvial deposits within the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR). Although no discrete ash layers were visible in the exposures studied, microtephra analysis of sediment samples collected at Rose Spring and Cedar Spring revealed the presence of varying concentrations of ash shards. Radiocarbon dating and stratigraphic relationships suggest that both Mono-Inyo Craters and...

POLLEN AND PHYTOLITH ANALYSIS OF SITE 23CK57, MISSOURI (2006)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings.

Pollen and phytolith analysis of stratigraphic samples from 23CK57 form the basis for understanding the Early and Late Paleoindian eras, as well as the Late Archaic through Woodland time periods. The hiatus visible in the record appears to have removed sediments that date between approximately 8000 and 3000 RCYBP, based on original assessments of the stratigraphy at the site. Radiocarbon ages between 1380 and 1210 RCYBP are reported in the upper sediment package.

A Prehistoric Context for Southern Nevada (2012)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Uploaded by: Jim deVos

The document was developed to assist land managers and cultural resource custodians in evaluating the significance of prehistoric archaeological sites under the requirement of the National Historic Preservation Act and other federal laws and regulations. In the intervening 30 years, southern Nevada has been one of the nation’s fastest growing population centers. This explosive urban expansion has resulted in the recording of thousands of prehistoric sites and the excavation of hundreds of these.
