In the fall of 1952, construction of the Jim Woodruff Dam in northwest Florida approached the stage when water would be impounded and Indian sites flooded (map 9). Negotiations were started between the National Park Service and the Florida State Museum, University of Florida, with a view to salvaging archeological data within the State of Florida.
