From 1971 to 1975, Bettye J. Broyles of the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey conducted an archaeological survey of the Burnsville Reservoir area in Braxton County, West Virginia. This work was conducted in advance of the creation of the Burnsville Reservoir. As a result of the survey, 43 archaeological sites were recorded.
