Since its inception in July 2014, one of ASOR CHI’s main activities has been intensive monitoring, reporting, and fact-finding (MRF) to help address the challenges of the cultural heritage crises unfolding in Syria and northern Iraq. This dataset contains compositional (elemental abundance) and descriptive data for a total of 239 ceramic and clay specimens from Iraq, analyzed by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). Neutron Activation Analysis of Ceramics from Iraq
This project pertains to the compositional analysis of ceramic materials from Iraq. These data were generated by neutron activation analysis (NAA) at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) between the late 1960s and early 1990s. Data from the LBNL were transferred to the Archaeometry Laboratory at the University of Missouri, where they were digitized for distribution through tDAR.
POLLEN, PHYTOLITH, AND STARCH GRAIN ANALYSIS OF DENTAL CALCULUS FROM NEMRIK 9, A PRE-POTTERY NEOLITHIC SITE IN NORTHERN IRAQ (2011)
Human teeth with visible dental calculus were submitted for pollen, phytolith and starch grain analysis from the Nemrik 9 site, located in Northern Iraq. The samples comprise single and multiple teeth from 11 different contexts. Nemrik 9 is a pre-pottery neolithic site on the eastern edge of the Fertile Crescent. The goal of this analysis is to provide subsistence information and data useful for better understanding the origins of agriculture in this region.
