A core was collected from sediments in a seasonally dry glacial kettle lake or pond near Bismark, North Dakota. These sediments are anticipated to represent most of the Holocene and possibly the latest Pleistocene. Pollen samples were collected at close intervals to provide the best possible evaluation of the paleoenvironment. In addition, eight radiocarbon ages were obtained on humates, since there was no charcoal observed in the core, to anchor the pollen record. Dates range from 4900 to...
