POLLEN, PHYTOLITH, AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSES AND AMS RADIOCARBON DATING OF SAMPLES FROM FRANK’S PUEBLO, SITE LA 9032, NEW MEXICO (2010)
Samples from rooms and midden areas at Frank’s Pueblo, site LA 9032, were examined for pollen and/or macrofloral remains. This site is part of the Salinas Pueblo District in central New Mexico and is one of several small, plaza-oriented, aggregated masonry pueblos on the Chupadera Mesa that formed in the late AD 1200s. Red Rio II: An Archaeological Survey of 2,280 acres Near Chupadera Mesa, White Sands Missile Range, Socorro County, New Mexico (1986)
The survey was required by Holloman Air Force Base in order to use a portion of the survey area as a bombing and strafing range. Prior to 1985 the area had been utilized as a target range for at least 20 years. This report describes the cultural resources found, summarized the research conducted, and makes recommendations for the future protection of the archaeological resources.
