Seven springs in the northern Kawich Range were investigated to determine whether Holocene volcanic ash layers exist in alluvial deposits within the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR). Although no discrete ash layers were visible in the exposures studied, microtephra analysis of sediment samples collected at Rose Spring and Cedar Spring revealed the presence of varying concentrations of ash shards.
