In 1982, Cultural Heritage Research Services, Inc. conducted an on-ground prehistoric and historical archaeological cultural resources survey within the Madera Canyon and Archeological Area IV Project Areas on Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. AR-03-03-05-267 (LA 81720) is mostly a poorly preserved late prehistoric lithic and ceramic artifact scatter located on a low ridge near the outlets of Madera, Lurance and Sol se Mete Canyons located in the headwaters of Arroyo del Coyote that drain the west side of the Manzanita Mountains. the site does appear to retain integrity in the location of Area A where we defined the location of an Early Archaic and possible Paleoindian component.
