In response to observations that human remains appeared to be eroding from a location on Elder Island within Woods Reservoir, a project was undertaken to identify and to relocate human remains from this location. The work was done in mid-1998 as a cemetery relocation project. Investigators judged that these remains had been originally interred during a period of time between 1840 and 1900. All human remains and grave furnishings were re-interred in the Elder cemetery.

Archaeological investigation in support of the proposed Duck River Electric Membership Corporation (DREMC) power pole replacement. Investigation included a review of the existing site records, pedestrian survey and visual inspection as well as shovel testing. Visual inspection and shovel testing produced evidence of a moderate to large sized undetermined prehistoric lithic scatter here which is recorded as 40FR504. An Archaeological Survey of the Upper Elk River Basin (1973)
The objectives of this intern project were to locate, investigate, and record as many unknown archaeological sites as possible. The investigations described in this report were undertaken to determine the existence of unknown prehistoric archaeological sites in the Upper Elk River Basin area. The survey was also needed to complete the inventory of archaeological materials and sites that lie along the expanse of the Elk River.

Summary of findings for Phase II investigations of 12 sites on Arnold Air Force Base in Coffee and Franklin Counties, Tennessee. The Phase II investigations served to both confirm previously identified cultural components and identify previously unrecorded occupations. Of the 12 sites investigated, only 40CF124 is recommended as eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
