This is an abstract from the session entitled "Paper / Report Submission (General Sessions)", at the 2023 annual meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology. Arriving in 1848 for the California Gold Rush, Chinese immigrants brought many cultural traditions new to the US, including opium smoking.
