Ethnohistoric Research (Investigation Type)
This kind of research includes systematic description and analysis of changes in cultural systems through time, using historical documents and oral and traditional histories. Ethnohistoric studies typically deal with time periods of initial or early contact between different cultural systems, for example, European explorers or early colonists and indigenous cultures.

The 1837 Ioway Indian Map Project
In 1837 the Ioway Indians drew a map to bring to treaty talks with the United States government. The 1837 Ioway Map project uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to help extract cultural, archaeological, and historical information from this rare document. Centered on what is now the state of Iowa, the 1837 map shows 51 rivers, nine lakes, 23 villages, and over two dozen important Ioway Indian trails.

1837 Ioway Map (2003)
This is a scanned image of the 1837 Ioway map, with a small number of locations and rivers annotated with their modern names. Centered on what is now the state of Iowa, the 1837 map shows 51 rivers, nine lakes, 23 villages, and over two dozen important Ioway Indian trails. Map features were unlabeled on the original document, but historic records indicate that it was designed around two major rivers, the Mississippi and the Missouri.

The Age of Common Beans in the (Phaseolus vulgaris) Northeastern United States (1999)
A radiocarbon date of A.D. 1070 ± 60 was linked to the remains of maize (Zea mays), beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), and squash (Cucurbita pepo) at the Roundtop site in the Susquehanna River valley of New York by William Ritchie in 1969 and 1973 publications.
