The River Basin Surveys, Smithsonian Institution examined the area to be inundated by Kelsey Creek Reservoir in Lake County, California for archaeological resources. Clarence E. Smith carried out the field work in the fall of 1947. Although the area is small, no less than 13 sites were found within it.
