Site HaRl-4, the Rocky Mountain Portage House, which is part of a North West Company fort and trading outpost occupied between approximately 1805 and 1814, is located approximately 75m southeast of the Peace River near its confluence with Maurice Creek. During the 1987 field season Alice Tratebas located fifty-one sites on the F.E. Warren main base. Of those sites, thirty were recommended as significant. During the 1995 field season, twenty of the fifty-one sites recorded by Tratebas were tested by Frontier Cultural Services. Of those twenty sites, twelve were considered significant by Tratebas and eight considered not significant.
