Site 41VV112 (Cave 1) is located downstream of the Pecos River in Val Verde County, Texas. Cave 1 is part of the Shumla Caves excavation in 1933 by George Martin. A twined basket that dates to 3,700 BP was recovered from the excavation and sent for FTIR analysis to identify pitch that lined the basket.

The results of data recovery conducted for the Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Colorado Region at six prehistoric sites in the Hart Mine and Cibola Quarry areas are presented in this report. The Bureau of Reclamation plans to use the Hart Mine and Cibola Quarry areas to mine rip-rap for use along the Colorado River.
