The USACE, Louisville District obtained this collection through an archaeological test excavation at the Huntington Reservoir Project in 1964. EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL AND DETRITAL CHARCOAL FROM THE OWYHEE RIVER, OREGON (2001)
A total of eleven bulk soil samples and one charcoal sample were examined to recover charcoal or other organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. Samples were recovered from terrace alluvium and flood deposits along the Owyhee River in southeastern Oregon. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated.
