Roughly one in eleven individuals buried in historic-period cemeteries in Stevens County, Minnesota died before reaching one year of age. This paper examines the gravemarkers of a subset of the 913 infants buried between 1870 and 1970, looking at both chronological and contemporary variation in style, production, and information recorded.
