Pollen samples were collected from five locations in site 3324, a buried pondfield system at West Loch. Backhoe Trench 4-41, as well as Cores 1 and 2 were collected from Area 4, which included buried fishponds. Backhoe Trench 4-41 was opened immediately outside Buried Fishpond 3322. Cores 1 and 2 were collected inside the Buried Fishpond 3322 location. Local tradition has it that the area of Fishpond 3322 functioned as a taro field, then rice field in historic tines.
