POLLEN ANALYSIS AT EAST RUIN, AZTEC RUINS NATIONAL MONUMENT, NEW MEXICO (1989)

Six pollen samples were analyzed from three mounds from the East Ruin at Aztec Ruins National Monument in New Mexico. This analysis was performed in association with excavations to determine the nature of various mounds. Excavations confirmed Mound E as a trash mound from the Mesa Verde period (1200s), Mound D as a roomblock extension of Mound C, and the unnumbered mound as an historic earthwork possibly associated with a barn.
