Site 42CB 1279 in Carbon County, Utah, exhibits rock art evidence of occupations during the Archaic, Fremont, and probable Numic (Ute) time period affiliations. A shallow alcove adjacent to the rock art panels contained a single-component Numic (Ute) occupation. A cultural horizon in the alcove exhibited charcoal-stained soil, faunal materials, and lithic artifacts. No hearth, processing pits, or groundstone were noted in the occupational layer.
