EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL FOR DATABLE CHARCOAL FROM A LACUSTRINE BAR DEPOSIT IN THE LAKE LAHONTAN BASIN, NEVADA (2001)
DOCUMENT
Full-Text
Two bulk soil samples from a trench exposure in a lacustrine bar deposit in the Lake Lahontan Basin near Bradys Hot Spring, Nevada, were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon dating. Radiocarbon dating will be used for reconstructing past lake highstands and to place a constraint on the age of the most recent earthquake. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated.
