The site of Gegharot is located on the Tsaghkahovit Plain, a small, roughly triangular intermontane plateau measuring a maximum of 10-12 km wide and situated between the northern slope of Mt. Aragats, the southwestern slopes of the Pambak Range, and Mt. Kolgat in central western Armenia. This is the smallest and highest of three major plains that nestle at the base of Mt. Aragats.
