The results of a subsurface inventory survey conducted at Bellows Air Force Station (BAFS) are reported. The survey area followed a 1.8 km fuel pipeline and transected BAFS from Keolu Hills to Waimanalo Bay. Twenty-three backhoe trenches and three controlled test units were excavated. During 1979, the Environmental Studies Group of the Dolores Archaeological Program developed a research design which emphasized the development and testing of specific vegetation models based on archaeological and modern botanical data.
