This talk compares methods used for the topographical mapping of the archaeological site of Matacanela. Prior archaeological research in the Sierra de los Tuxtlas, southern Veracruz, Mexico demonstrates significant sociopolitical transformations spanning the Formative through the Postclassic periods.
