Protein residues were identified from zooarchaeological turkey (Meleagris gallopavo), rabbit (Leporidae), and squirrel (Sciuridae) remains from ancient pueblo archaeological sites in southwestern Colorado using a non-targeted LC-MS/MS approach. Results indicate that protein residues preserve well in tissues of origin, such as bone.
