During the early decades of the 1840s several of Guilford County's wealthier citizens constructed artfully designed estates within a short walk or ride of burgeoning downtown Greensboro.  The finest example of an urban estate with picturesque landscape is the Italianate Blandwood Mansion, designed by A.
