During the recent field season in Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary, and off the Golden Gate entrance near San Francisco Bay, several new shipwrecks were discovered. They included the passenger steamship S.S. City of Rio de Janeiro, referred to as the "Titanic of the Golden Gate" due to the high loss of life and the passenger steamship S.S.
