Lincoln Military Housing at Fort Sam Houston is proposing an undertaking to add two ceiling fans on the front porch and to enclose the 2nd floor sleeping porch at the rear of the building for use as a laundry room for Staff Post 6. Known as the Pershing House, Staff 6 was constructed in 1881 and is individually listed as a National Landmark in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Texas Historical Commission has received and reviewed from Fort Sam Houston a letter providing further information related to the renovation of Staff Post 6. The Commission requests an adequate opportunity to comment on the revised proposal prior to initiating work. Copied to this correspondence is Lee Keatinge (Advisory Council on Historic Preservation), Joan Gaither (Society for the Preservation of Fort Sam Houston), and Sally Buchanan (San Antonio Conservation Society).
